Designed by global interior design firm, Ivana Decor was proudly appointed as the fit-out work contractor for this prestigious hotel room refurbishment work, that begins with mock-up room and corridor. Timber veneer as the main material finishes of the room, with no sharp corners and edges on mill work and joinery, we sent two teams of experienced carpenters to work on it and the results was up to client’s expectation.
Ivana Decor was entrusted to execute a mock-up unit for the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, one of Malaysia’s most iconic luxury properties. As part of a planned hotel-wide refurbishment, our team was brought in to develop and deliver a fully finished guest room and corridor mock-up that would serve as the standard for future renovations across the hotel. The project was led by a globally renowned interior design firm, setting a high benchmark for quality and precision from the outset.
The mock-up required an exceptional level of detail, particularly in the areas of joinery, mill work, and finishing. One of the key design requirements was the use of timber veneer as the primary material, executed with zero visible sharp corners or exposed edges — a detail that required custom techniques and elevated craftsmanship. To meet these standards, Ivana Decor deployed two dedicated teams of senior carpenters, each with years of experience in luxury hospitality fit-outs, ensuring a smooth and highly specialized execution.
Close coordination with the design team was essential to ensure that every element — from wall panels and ceiling junctions to furniture integration — met the aesthetic and technical expectations of a 5-star luxury brand. The mock-up served not just as a sample room, but as a fully operational prototype that reflected how the design would perform in real-world conditions, including lighting, acoustics, and spatial flow. This allowed for detailed evaluation and feedback before full-scale production began.
